Childhood Obesity Is The Focus Of Michelle Obama's Latest Program
Here's a great article I came across on the web. Like many American children I struggled with obesity as a child. I talk about this in my book. What are your thoughts? - J. Alexander.

Child Obesity is the target for First Lady Michelle Obama's first project while her husband is serving his first term. Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign was announced yesterday including its four major components. Recent studies show obesity in children may pave the way to an early grave, not to mention the fact that costs for medical care increase directly proportionally to weight. The study, published Wednesday, followed nearly 5,000 American children from childhood to middle age and found that those who were obese as children were more than twice as likely to die from disease before the age of 55. This is the first large study to confirm that childhood obesity is a risk factor for long-term complications, though that is something experts have suspected for years. Children's habits that lead to obesity are influenced by many factors, including availability of fast food and soda, inadequate access to healthy food options in the neighborhood, and too few safe places, such as parks and recreational facilities, in which to play and exercise.
